Happy New Year!

Yeah, ok, I'm late, Chinese New Year was Saturday, New Year's was 29 days ago.  I had NO idea it'd been that long since I wrote a post.  I've been writing up a storm- poems, PB drafts, revisions, journaling, and more.

So, I'm in the process of working on two books of poetry, and a humorous book as well (the topic will remain a secret...).  For book one, I'm on poem 41 of 50, and for the second book, I'm on poem 228 of 365 (these are a specific style).  For the humorous book, I'm on 52 of 100 (may end up being more...we'll see!!).  All three I will probably be self-publishing.  The humorous one is actually going to be a definite self-publish.  The two books of poems I may send out to a couple publishers first, then go the self-publishing route.

One joyous gift I received early in the year was finding out that I won a scholarship for a gold tier level for Julie Hedlund's 12x12 Picture Book Challenge!!  I am so excited, and so honored to have been selected for the scholarship, and it has, along with a quote I'll share in another post soon- I promise-, helped to jump start my new year in writing picture book manuscripts as well as inspire me to really bust my ass.  Being given this opportunity to be in 12x12 again is something I will not squander.  I would not have been able to join up otherwise this year.  I had only the funds for two things this year related to writing- 12x12 or the EPASCBWI conference and I chose to save the funds for the conference, to meet with agents in person.  So to have won the scholarship is HUGE.  Now I can do both!

How much has it inspired me?  Well, I've worked on revisions for two manuscripts, and written three new manuscripts this month alone!

Along with StoryStorm (formerly called PiBoIdMo and formerly in November), my picture book inspirations have catapulted my into the new year.  For StoryStorm I have 35 ideas total, two of which are middle grade possible.

I also found a critique partner!  We've already exchanged one MS and will continue to do so pretty much once a month.

So, yeah, I'm psyched about this year.

New Year's Writing Resolutions?

Just one.

Bust my ass to acheive my dreams.
